Meet Elizabeth Moots: Our December Leading Woman

Name: Elizabeth Moots

Major: English & Political Science

Hometown: Macon, MO

What are your career and life goals?

I plan to apply to law schools next fall with goals of becoming some type of lawyer. As of right now, I don’t know which area of law that dream will manifest in, but I am focused on getting into school for now.

What is your favorite part about your major and why did you choose it?

I am an English and Political Science double major, though I am partial to my English studies. I chose English because of my love for reading, which is definitely my favorite part of my major; reading Sally Rooney and Shakespeare doesn’t feel like homework to me!

What organizations or hobbies are you passionate about?

I love dancing and singing! One of my favorite ways to express this has been teaching dance classes at the MizzouRec. I’m also very passionate about my involvement with the Alumni Association Student Board (AASB). We work to plan and execute some of Mizzou’s favorite traditions, like Tiger Walk and the Mizzou 18 and ‘39 awards!

What are you most excited for as our new president?

I could not be more proud, honored, and excited to serve as Theta’s next president. The opportunity to serve this chapter full of incredible women excites me specifically, because I have the special privilege of getting to know everyone more personally and intentionally with this leadership position. I am also just so honored to represent, serve, and lead my phenomenal chapter, full of women who inspire me daily!

How have your experiences in Theta changed you?

Theta has changed me by giving me a community of strong, smart, uplifting women who inspire me to grow into the best version of myself, and are simply the best friends I’ve ever had!

What does Theta mean to you?

To me, Theta is a place of special friendships and the best memories of my life! The potential I see within all of my Theta sisters brings out the best in me. As cheesy as it sounds, Theta is truly my home away from home.

Do you have any advice for underclassmen?

My advice is to just dive in and get involved within Theta or any organization you’re interested in. Don’t spread yourself too thin; try to focus on a few new places while in college to truly invest your time, energy, and friendships into!

Do you have a specific favorite Theta memory?

Winning 2024 Homecoming is up there as a chapter-wide memory. But my personal favorite will always be when my little sister, Caroline, ran home to me on Bid Day this year. I got to be her New Member Director and watch her find the true sisterhood I have within this chapter.
