Name: Maggie Wesley
Theta pledge class: 2015
Mizzou graduation year: 2019
Major/Degree: Marketing
Hometown: Evansville, Indiana
Current city: Annapolis, Maryland
Where do you work right now? What have you been up to since graduation? The Washington Commanders (NFL) – I am their Corporate Events Manager but was previously the Brand Marketing Manager and assisted with a once in a lifetime rebrand for what was formerly the Washington Redskins.
What's your favorite thing about your job? My favorite thing about my job is the fun parties and events I get to throw for the team and clients. It is extremely gratifying to execute someone’s dream event for them but also to be able to do it on the biggest sports stage- The NFL.
What's your favorite thing about the city you live in? My boyfriend and I recently bought a house in Annapolis and I finally moved out of DC to be close to the water – our happy place. We love that we are able to take the boat out after work to restaurants and around town. And even though it is the capital of the state of Maryland, I love the small town feel it provides.
What are you passionate about? I am SUPER passionate about bringing more females into the sports industry. There are not nearly enough of us here and I continue to advocate for those fighting for a spot.
What do you do in your free time? In my free time (in the warmer months) I like to go out on the boat with my lil family and try as many new restaurants as possible. Unfortunately working in sports does not provide much free time so anytime I get to relax and spend time with friends and family is always the best.
Other future career/life goals: My future goal is to take on an executive events role with an NFL team or other professional sports team.
What do you miss most about Mizzou? I miss my friends! And the cute little town of Columbia.
What do you miss most about Theta? I miss living in the brand new (at the time) 6-Man Suite! That year in the house is what built the structure for my life-long friendship with those gals. Being across the country now makes me miss those days.
What is one thing you took away from being a part of Theta in college that has shaped you into the woman you are today? What impact has Theta left on you? The one thing I took away from Theta is to never underestimate yourself.
Do you have a specific favorite Theta memory? My favorite Theta memory was my senior year when I was able to travel to the University of Iowa and initiate my baby sister into Theta!
