Name: Gretchen Metzger Aul
Theta Member Class: MC 2015
When did you graduate from Mizzou? May 2019
Major/Degree: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Marketing
Hometown: Lindenhurst, IL
Where you live now: Kansas City, MO
Where do you work right now/what have you been up to since graduation?
I was an intern at Hallmark Cards in college, and then came on full time after I graduated! I have held a variety of marketing roles, but most recently took a role working on the product side, specifically on greeting cards.
What's your favorite thing about your job?
I love working on a product as fun as cards; as an avid card sender myself, it’s fun to be a part of a team making decisions on the creative pieces, but also digging into the analytical side as well. The mix of art and the science of it all is my favorite.
What's your favorite thing about the city you live in?
Kansas City has so much going on, even apart from successful football the last few years. I love the restaurant scene, the Nelson, everything downtown offers, and the neighborhood my husband and I just moved to, Brookside. It’s small enough to be able to park easily downtown, but big enough that there’s always so many things to do.
What do you miss most about Mizzou?
I miss having so many friends living next door to me in the house! I also, of course, miss Fretboard, Shakespeare’s, and specifically Addison’s nachos. Plus, a sunny day on the quad with friends.
What is one thing you took away from being a part of Theta in college that has shaped you into the woman you are today?
Theta, in so many ways, made me into the woman I am today. It was Thetas that sat down with me in college and helped me map a path to interning at my dream company, it was Thetas that became mentors and pushed me to take on leadership opportunities, and it was Thetas who still are some of my closest friends and the people that inspire me daily.
Do you have a specific favorite Theta memory?
I will never forget senior sunrise on the field, sharing advice with the new MC, and hearing my friends do the same. It felt so sentimental and special to remember how quick those four years go, and how much you learn in between.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Theta has such a special place in my heart, and is such a forever gift. I will always feel so grateful for my time in the house and the friendships I have because of it.
